Union Minister Narayan Rane and Member of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Nitesh Rane were granted interim protection from arrest in connection with case registered against based on complaint by the parents of late Disha Salian, former manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput..Apprehending arrest, the father-son duo had filed anticipatory bail applications before the Mumbai Sessions Court at Dindoshi through advocate Satish Maneshinde.Maneshinde argued that the first information report (FIR) made it clear that it was registered with ulterior motive and to restrict movement of Ranes. Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) Pradeep Gharat sought adjournment for filing reply. He made a statement at the bar to maintain status quo, in respect of arresting Rane father and son. Sessions Judge SU Baghele said, "The statement made by the Special Public Prosecutor is hereby recorded. Consequently, the police shall not effect arrest till the next date, in view of the said statement". The matter was posting for hearing next on March 10, 2022. .Both father and son were booked for allegedly making defamatory remarks and spreading false information about Salian who according to police had died by suicide on June 8, six days before Rajput was found dead in his home. They were accused under offences punishable under Sections 211 (false charge of offence), 500 (defamation), 504 (intend to provoke breach), 509 (insult to modesty), 506 II (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) read with Section 67 (transmit of obscene material) of the Information Technology Act, 2000 against them.
