Dr V Kesava Rao has been appointed the new Vice-Chancellor of the National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi. Dr Rao took charge of his new office on March 9.
He takes over the reins of the University from Gautam Choudhury, who was appointed the Vice-Chancellor in-charge after Vice-Chancellor BC Nirmal was forced to go on leave in May 2017 on allegations of maladministration.
Prior to this appointment, Dr Kesava Rao had acted as the Vice-Chancellor in-charge of the Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University (DSNLU) Visakhapatnam. He served in this capacity between June 2016 and December 2018, until the appointment of Dr S Surya Prakash as DSNLU’s permanent Vice Chancellor.
Dr Kesava Rao has over three decades of teaching experience and has served as Professor of Law and Dean, Faculty of Law at Andhra University. He has served as the Principal of NBM Law College, Andhra University, and had a stint as Registrar of Chanakya National Law University (CNLU), Patna in 2007-08. He was also formerly the Director of the Institute of Law and Ethics in Medicine at NLSIU, Bangalore in 2002-03.
