In a significant move in the Indian law firm market, as many as seven partners from HSA Advocates have joined DSK Legal.
DSK has also restarted its office in Bangalore.
Among the movers are HSA Senior Partners Aparajit Bhattacharya and Anjan Dasgupta, along with their respective teams.
Partners Harvinder Singh, Aninda Pal, and Sharath Chandrasekhar have also joined DSK Legal. Chandrasekhar will head the revamped Bangalore office.
Associate Partners Devika Chadha and Avinash Kumar Khard have also made the switch from HSA to DSK.
DSK Legal Managing Partner Anand Desai commented on the new hires,
“This is a huge and exciting step in DSK Legal’s journey. Both Aparajit and Anjan are well respected and bring a strong contingent of lawyers with them. The opening of our office in Bengaluru has been long due, given the amount of work we do there. Speaking on the move, Aparajit Bhattacharya said in a release,
“After having spent more than a decade and a half at HSA, it was an emotional decision to move on and pursue newer opportunities and goals. Having said that, we considered the opportunity and felt that having a market-leading practice with international standard systems and processes in place, coupled with the vision that quality and client service is of paramount importance, joining hands with DSK Legal and the leadership team at the Firm headed by Mr. Anand Desai was the right decision. We believe, together, we will be able to take the Firm to greater heights, making it a go-to legal services firm in our chosen areas of practice.”
Anjan Dasgupta said,

Bhattacharya is a graduate of Symbiosis Law School. He has previously worked as Legal Counsel for Hindustan Unilever, before joining Trilegal. In 2004, he moved to HSA Advocates, where he spent close to 15 years. His focus areas are Corporate Commercial, M&A and PE-VC. He was also a part of the Projects practice at HSA, with a keen focus on environmental, health & safety (EHS) matters.
Dasgupta is a 2002 graduate of Symbiosis Law School. He also holds an LL.M from University of Toronto. He had previously worked with Trilegal, Norton Rose Fulbright, and Herbert Smith Freehills, before joining HSA in 2011. He focuses on infrastructure, energy project development and finance, public private partnerships, government contracts and public procurement.
Singh holds an LL.B. degree from Delhi University and is also a member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India. He worked at Fox Mandal Little before joining HSA in 2009. His practice areas include Corporate Commercial, M&A, PE-VC and Capital Markets.
Pal is a 2005 Symbiosis Law School graduate. He had worked with Gagrats, Trilegal, and Juris Corp before joining HSA in 2016. His practice areas include M&A, PE-VC, joint ventures, corporate commercial & restructuring, regulatory advisory and general corporate.
Chandrasekhar is a 2005 NLSIU Bangalore graduate, and also holds an LL.M from Duke University School of Law. He previously worked with Axis Bank and J Sagar Associates before starting his independent practice. He then went on to start Citius Law Partners along with Abhishek Shinde and Atish Kumar Vatts, before moving to HSA in 2016. He focuses on Private Equity, M&A and Corporate Commercial work.
Chadha graduated from Faculty of Law, Delhi University in 2009. She worked with Phoenix Legal before joining HSA in 2012. She practices in the areas of M&A, PE-VC, joint ventures, corporate commercial & restructuring, regulatory advisory and general corporate.
Khard is a graduate of ILS Law College, Pune. He joined HSA in 2012, and focuses on Banking & Finance.
With these hires, DSK now has 130+ lawyers, with 32 partners (including associate partners).
