The Jharkhand High Court on Tuesday took suo moto cognizance in the Dumka school girl murder case and summoned the Director General of Police (DGP) and Home Secretary seeking a report in the matter, reported IndiaToday..As per reports, the victim was a class 12th student in Dumka, Jharkhand who was allegedly set on fire by the accused, a construction worker, on August 23 after she refused his proposal.The victim was initially admitted to Phulo Jhano Medical College and Hospital in critical condition with 90 per cent burns, and was later shifted to another hospital. However, she succumbed to the burn injuries on August 28.The victim had filed a statement before a magistrate when she was in the hospital where she had named the accused asking for justice. On the same day, the accused was arrested by the police..As per ANI, the Jharkhand Police also constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into the murder. "10 member SIT constituted for investigation; evidence being collected by the forensics team. The case will be supervised by the Superintendent of Police. This a serious case," DIG Dumka SP Mandal said.
