The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India has decided to involve law interns to study the implementation of the Right to Information (RTI) Act. In a circular dated November 10, 2014 the DoPT described the initiative as an exercise to document its experience in the implementation of the RTI Act, its successes, shortcomings and areas which require attention..The internships are being offered to second-year law students pursuing the five-year course as well as to graduates in the first year pursuing the three-year law degree. The internship will be for a duration of one month starting December 1, 2014..The interns will be required to analyse RTI applications and study the status of suo motu disclosures of the concerned Ministry/Departments, after which a report will have to be submitted. Travel costs of the interns will be reimbursed up to Rs. 5,000 and certificates will be issued on satisfactory completion and submission of the reports.
