Husband on study leave not exempted from paying maintenance to estranged wife, child: Madras High Court

The Court refused to entertain an appeal against a family court order, by which the husband was directed to ₹12,500 each for the maintenance of his wife and his daughter.

Going on study leave or taking a break from work to pursue higher studies cannot be a ground for a man to seek exemption from paying maintenance to his estranged wife and their children, the Madras High Court recently held.
