Mumbai-based boutique M&A and corporate advisory firm RGM Legal has expanded its real estate, litigation and dispute resolution practice with the joining of Vatsal Shah, head legal of Indiabulls Real Estate in the firm.
Founded in 2016 by Rishabh G. Mastaram, RGM Legal has now bench strength of six lawyers.
Commenting on his joining RGM, Vatsal Shah said,
“Having worked in both in-house as well as in the law firms, it will be easier for us to know what are the real pain-point for clients as well as the firms and how to best deal with them.”
A 2004 graduate of ILS Law College, Pune, Shah had started his career with Doijode Associates, Advani & Co and later joined Naik & Naik & Co before moving to Indiabulls Group in the year 2012.
“I know Vatsal for more than a decade and we have been working together in different avatars i.e. as peers, colleagues and also as client-attorney ever since then. We were anyways looking for a trustworthy and honest partner to grow the practice who is capable of co-founding a full-service law firm and who other than Vatsal could do the best”, said Rishabh Mastaram, founder of RGM Legal.
RGM Legal focuses mainly on structuring, corporate M&A, PE, venture capital and Fintech, funded startup space and with Shah joining the firm, it will have real estate transaction and dispute resolution practice to cover commercial disputes, insolvency & bankruptcy and, arbitration amongst other things.
“The addition of more practice areas is natural progression for us since we believe in growing with our clients,” said Mastaram.
Recently, RGM Legal had advised and assisted multiple fintech companies, namely CredAble, TrustOne and others in structuring their transaction flow and also setting up their entire operational contracts and service level facilitation agreements.
Aside transactions, RGM Legal was involved in certain high profile litigation where they were representing ex-director of Bengal Empta which was the nominee of The Durgapur Projects Limited (a State Government Company – West Bengal) in relation to certain commercial dispute with Reliance Capital – the said matter is recently disposed by the Bombay High Court. RGM Legal also representing a British Virgin Island company owning aircrafts in a writ petition before Delhi High Court.
RGM Legal was founded by Mastaram in the year 2016, before that he was associate partner at Naik & Naik & Co. An alumni of Middlesex University, London and Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (Mumbai) had started his career with Arlington Sharma Solicitors in London and later he had worked with law firms including DSK Legal, Desai & Diwanji and Foxmandal Little.
