The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh on Monday contributed ₹54.4 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) to aid rehabilitation and welfare of people hit by the recent devastating floods in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir..A cheque issued by Registrar General (Officiating) MK Sharma was formally handed over to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah..Earlier, the High Court had issued an order appealing for voluntary contributions towards the relief fund for victims of the cloudburst and flash floods in the Union Territory. As per the order, judges of the High Court were asked to contribute ₹20,000 each, district judges ₹10,000 each, civil judges ₹5,000 each, while gazetted officials of the High Court and District Judiciary contributed ₹5,000 each and non-gazetted staff donated ₹1,000 each..The unprecedented floods have displaced hundreds of families and caused severe loss to property and livelihoods. Recognizing the scale of human suffering, the High Court recently emphasised that the institution stands firmly with the people in this difficult time and will continue to extend all possible support towards relief and rehabilitation measure
