Justice Gautam Patel of the Bombay High Court is writing a book on fundamental rights and free speech. "He was taken from us at too early an age. In that brief, glorious life, Shamnad made contributions that few are able to do in lives lived twice as long.".Justice Patel also told the audience that Prof Basheer and him had also discussed an internship program for IDIA students weeks before he passed away.He added that he had also undertaken a commitment to keep a seat for IDIA interns at his chamber. "I reaffirm that commitment and hope to take that forward."
