The Central government on Thursday notified the appointment of Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva as Acting Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court..Present Chief Justice Suresh Kait is set to retire on May 23."In exercise of the power conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, Judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, to perform the duties of office of the Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from 24.05.2025 consequent upon the retirement of Shri Justice Suresh Kumar Kait, Chief Justice, Madhya Pradesh High Court on 23.05.2025," the notification stated..Having enrolled as an advocate with the Bar Council of Delhi in 1988, Justice Sachdeva practiced before the Supreme Court, the Delhi High Court and various district courts in Delhi. He became an Advocate-on-Record of the Supreme Court in 1995.He served as Standing Counsel for the Bar Council of India for over two decades and was also a Senior Panel Lawyer for the Union of India, representing the government in numerous matters for more than 10 years.In July 2011, he was designated as a Senior Advocate by the Delhi High Court.He was elevated as an additional judge of the Delhi High Court on April 17, 2013 and became a permanent judge on March 18, 2015.
