Justice Vikramajit Sen likely to become Karnataka’s Lokayukta

Former Supreme Court Judge and Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court Justice Vikramajit Sen, who retired from the Supreme Court on December 30, is likely to be Karnataka’s new Lokayukta, according to this report..The top post of the anti-graft institution recently fell vacant after former Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court Justice Y Bhaskar Rao resigned from the post over the extortion scam..Justice Rao had found himself in the dock after it was alleged that his son was using the office of the Lokayukta to run an extortion racket..Justice Sen is among three persons shortlisted by a panel headed by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The other two persons shortlisted are sitting judge of the Karnataka High Court Justice NK Patil and retired judge of the High Court, Justice SR Nayak..Justice Sen is most likely to be chosen, as his name has also been recommended by the sitting Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court..Sen J. began his career at the Bench in 1999 as an Additional judge of the Delhi High Court. He became a permanent judge in 2000.
