Karnan J. writes to CJI Thakur and Ors.; Blames “mental frustration” for erroneous order

Sitting Madras High Court judge, Justice Karnan has written to the Chief Justice of India, Justice JS Khehar and Justice R Banumathi explaining his conduct leading to an erroneous order in violation of the stay order by the Supreme Court..In the letter written to the three judges today, Justice Karnan admits that order was a result of his, “mental frustration resulting in the loss of his mental balance.”.He then sets out two instances which had caused him “disturbances”..One was an incident that occurred during a marriage reception when a brother judge kicked him and later apologized. In another incident, the same judge allegedly removed the arm chair reservation slip on his chair, threw it on the ground and trampled it..He has stated that he had filed a complaint regarding the same with the SC/ ST Chairman and the incident was widely reported in the media.
