Kerala High Court invites applications for engagement as law interns, engineering interns [READ NOTIFICATION]

The Kerala High Court has issued a notification inviting applications for engagement as law interns and engineering interns on temporary basis with the High Court. The internship will be for a period of three months which may be extended to a maximum of six months.

While there is one vacancy for law intern, there are two vacancies for engineering interns.

For the position of Law Intern, the following are the required qualifications:

  1. Final Year Law graduate (3 years/ 5 years regular course) or postgraduate law student (regular course) having a good academic record. (The course being pursued should be from any of the Universities in Kerala or the course should be one that is recognised by any of the Universities in Kerala)

  2. Holders of Law degree/postgraduate law degree awarded or recognised by any of the Universities in Kerala, with 80% or above marks and within one year of completion of their course, but not employed.

  3. Students, as well as the degree holders, shall be of good character, excellent academic background, and have proven involvement in academic projects.

Candidates who are selected will be paid a consolidated amount of ₹25,000 per month.

The following would be the general work profile for law interns

  1. Conduct work study for developing modules for enhancing access to justice to all, across various categories of courts in Kerala within a time frame set by the IT Directorate.

  2. To participate in the preparation of Detailed Project Reports(DPRs) on the basis of work study considering substantive and adjective laws on the subjects and to involve in developing the programmes/applications as approved by the Directorate within a time frame.

  3. To prepare a road map for complete model digital courts in District Judiciary considering the use of ICT. It includes identification of case types that could be dealt with by model digital court, procedural difficulties, recommendations for process reengineering including amendments to the existing procedure.

  4. To submit report/s regarding the projects that could be integrated with the courtroom technology and to submit a road map as described in clause 3.

  5. Such other duties as may be assigned by the IT Directorate from time to time.

For the position of engineering intern, final year engineering graduates with good academic record can apply

BTech/ MTech holders with more than 80 percent marks and who are not employed anywhere else, can also apply within one year of completion of their course.

The following documents must be submitted to the High Court by registered post by September 17, 2021 after completing the online application procedure :

  1. Self-attested copies of all academic certificates from 10th grade onwards including certificates of involvement in projects and relevant page of school record to prove name and date of birth. Consolidated mark sheet (if available) or mark sheets of Engineering or Law degree/post-graduate degree (with the grade to percentage conversion formulae in applicable cases) should also be submitted.

  2. In the case of students, they shall produce a recommendation from the Head of the Institution certifying their character and conduct. In the case of graduates/postgraduates, they shall produce a conduct & character certificate from any gazetted officer in the prescribed format available in the "Downloads" link of the recruitment portal.
