Kerala High Court launches mobile e-Sewa Kendra on Bharat Benz minibus for Idukki

A mobile e-Sewa Kendra facility was inaugurated in Idukki district (Thodupuzha judicial district) by Kerala High Court judge Justice A Muhamed Mustaque on May 25. .Justice Mustaque is also the Chairman of the committee in charge of computerisation at the Kerala High Court.The ceremony was also graced by Kerala High Court Chief Justice AJ Desai and judge Justice CS Dias.The e-Sewa Kenda could be the first of its kind in India with a Bharat Benz minibus housing computer facilities. The key components of the Mobile e-Sewa Kendra:· Vehicle: A Bharat Benz minibus with customised facilities.· Hardware and Network: Laptops or desktops (2 nos.), a printer (MFD), and internet connectivity.· Facilities: To facilitate a comfortable environment inside the vehicle, air conditioning, fan and drinking water facilities are provided.The facility is intended to enhance accessibility to judicial system by eliminating geographical barriers and by bridging the digital divide for those unfamiliar with technology.The Thodupuzha judicial district hosts the second largest tribal population in Kerala. The mobile e-Sewa Kendra aims to aid marginalized sections of society who live in remote areas with no access to computer facilities or transportation to get access to the justice system.The facility also proposes to extend and integrate the services of the District Legal Services Authority to such persons.The mobile e-Sewa Kendra was launched alongside the inauguration of a new family court building at Thodupuzha. .An e-Sewa Kendra is envisioned to be a one-stop solution for the needs of lawyers and litigants in matters concerning the e-filing cases and access to information on cases pending or disposed of in courts. The initiative is the brain-child of incumbent Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud.The project is being funded under Phase II of the eCourts Project, based on the 103rd Report of the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee.
