[Exclusive]: Khaitan Competition Partner Avaantika Kakkar likely to join CAM

Khaitan & Co Competition Partner Avaantika Kakkar is resigning from the firm and is likely to join Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, according to several sources.

It is understood that Avaantika would be joining Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas as Head of Competition Practice.

We have reached out to both Khaitan & Co and Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas for comment.

However, Khaitan’s Amar Sinhji commented,

“The rumours about Avaantika Kakkar (Partner – Competition) leaving the Firm are just rumours!”

Avaantika is a 2003 graduate of ILS Law College. She is a senior member of the firm’s Competition team.

She joined Khaitan & Co in 2005. She has previously worked at Nishith Desai Associates and Udwadia & Udeshi.

This would be third big hire for Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas from Khaitan & Co. Yesterday, Bar & Bench had reported about Direct Tax Partner Daksha Baxi and Corporate Associate Partner Pooja Patel leaving Khaitan to join Cyril Amarchand.

In 2016, Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas Competition practice head Nisha Kaur Uberoi had resigned from the firm to join AZB & Partners. Later in 2017, Uberoi moved to Trilegal.
