
The Kerala State Mediation and Conciliation Centre has called for a list of cases pending before the Kerala High Court or district courts in the State which can be referred to mediation.
This has been done as part of the 'For the Nation' campaign, a 90 days' mediation drive launched by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) in association with the Mediation & Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC) of the Supreme Court of India. The campaign aims to settle appropriate cases pending before all Taluka Courts, District Courts, and High Courts in the country.
Lawyers or parties to disputes can submit a list of cases suitable for settlement to KMCC before July 30. High Courts and District Courts will also identify suitable cases from their database irrespective of the date fixed in the matter.
The following matters can be referred for mediation:
Marimonial cases;
Accident claims;
Domestic violence cases;
Cheque bounce cases;
Commercial disputes;
Service matters;
Criminal compoundable cases;
Consumer disputes;
Debt recovery cases;
Partition cases;
Eviction cases;
Land acquisition cases; and
other suitable civil cases.
Courts will list the matters selected for mediation in the cause list from July 1 to 3 under the heading - For Referral to the Special Mediation Drive- 'Mediation For the Nation'.
Online mediation will be available at all the centres and parties can appear for mediation even on holidays during the campaign.
