Central Government notifies new rules for appointment of Chief of Defence Staff

The Ministry of Defence issued a notification on Monday with the amended rules that would govern the appointment to the post of Chief of Defence Staff which has been lying vacant since the death of General Bipin Rawat.

The Ministry of Defence on Monday issued a notification introducing new regulations by way of amendments to the Army Rules, 1954, the Air Force Regulations, 1964, and the Naval Ceremonial Conditions of Service and Miscellanneous Regulations, 1963 for appointment to the post Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), the highest ranking military officer responsible for tri-service effectiveness.
