BCI hails nomination of former Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi as a member of Rajya Sabha, sees it as a bridge between Legislature and Judiciary

The press release states, "We sincerely feel that the decision will prove to be a landmark and epoch decision, which will go a long way in the process of nation building".

The Bar Council of India has hailed the nomination of former Chief Justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi, as a member of the Parliament (Rajya Sabha). The press release issued today states,

"We see it as a bridge between the Legislature and Judiciary. This, in fact, would be an ideal opportunity to portray the first hand views of the judiciary before the law makers and vis-a-versa."

The press release also addresses the criticism received from former Judges and a few lawyers, stating it to be 'unwarranted and premature'. it further states,

"It is most unfortunate that without even witnessing the part or role to be played by Shri Ranjan Gogoi, Former Chief Justice of India in Parliament, such comments are being issued."
