

Former Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) Chief General Manager Prasanta Mahapatra has taken charge as an Executive Director of the markets regulator.
In his new role, Mahapatra will handle SEBI’s Corporation Finance Investigation Department as well as its Recovery and Refund Department.
Mahapatra joined SEBI in April 1999 and has worked across several departments during his tenure.
These include the Market Regulation Department, Investigation Department, Enquiries and Adjudication Department, Market Intermediaries Regulation and Supervision Department, Corporation Finance Department and Investment Management Department.
He has also served at SEBI’s Eastern Regional Office in Kolkata.
Mahapatra has been a member of various domestic policy-making and advisory committees dealing with matters of mutual interest and cooperation with international regulators.
He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Utkal University, Odisha.
