The Madras High Court today dismissed a writ petition filed by an AIADMK party member seeking action against former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Paneerselvam (OPS) for allegedly having misused his official police security to gain entry into the AIADMK headquarters and indulging in violence on July 11.A single bench of Justice GK Ilanthirayin dismissed the plea filed by AIADMK party member Aadi Rajaram [Aadi Rajaram vs State of Tamil Nadu]..On July 11 this year, Paneerselvam was expelled from AIADMK following the party's General Council meeting, and his political rival Edappadi K. Palaniswami was elected the party’s interim general secretary. Paneerselvam had walked out while the meeting was midway, he later entered the headquarters with his supporters. Violent clashes between the supporters of OPS and EPS took place at the party headquarters soon after.The petitioner claimed that OPS had forced his way into the party headquarters by "misusing" the official police security that had been assigned to him by the Tamil Nadu government. Justice Ilanthirayin, however, dismissed the plea saying that the petitioner had "no locus standi.".Advocate S Santosh appeared for the state government.
