The Central government on Thursday informed the Rajya Sabha that there is currently no proposal pending before it for the establishment of a bench of the Gujarat High Court at Surat..Responding to a question by BJP MP Govindbhai Laljibhai Dholakia, Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal said,“At present there is no complete proposal pending with the Government of India to establish a High Court Bench in Surat.".The Minister clarified that High Court benches are established in accordance with the recommendations of the Jaswant Singh Commission.
