Laws students felicitated at LAW Foundation event attended by retired Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul

Former Supreme Court judge, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul recently presided over as the Chief Guest for a convocation event held at SKICC, Srinagar by the Lawyers At Work (LAW) Foundation to commemorate the completion of training and internships of students at multi-national companies and law firms in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore..The LAW Foundation is a non-profitable organisation that offers fellowship and training opportunities for law students.Justice (retd) Sanjay Kishan Kaul was the Chief Guest for the convocation event and gave an inspiring speech which emphasized upon the importance of helping each other and taking small initiatives.Speaking to Bar and Bench, Justice (retired) Kaul added that law students should be acquainted with all fields tied to the legal profession."So far as the practice in the Bar is concerned, the seniors lawyers have an obligation to see that the new entrants may get an opportunities to work with them so that they get some guidance to help them in the profession because the profession is the challenging task. The field is much wider today than it was two decades ago and the law students should look to all fields depending on their personal interest," Justice Kaul said. .During the convocation program, about ten Kashmir-based law students were facilitated with appreciation certificates by the foundation through Justice (retired) Kaul for successfully completing their training/ internships..Speaking to Bar and Bench, a BA LLB final year student from University of Kashmir, Syed Yusra spoke of the exposure and experience that she was able to secure through an internship at a law firm in Delhi which works with the government on policy matters."Law is not only about litigation and judiciary. Go outside from this field and experience the taste of other opportunities available in the field," she said. .Another law student, Bashash Mehmood said that he got an opportunity to intern with Mahindra & Mahindra at Mumbai where he came to know about the realm of corporate law. "During my internship, I came across many NLUs who are believed hyped up but my message to everyone that we are no less than any other NLU student. It is just the potential and hard-work that really matters and nothing else," Mehmood added. .Yesrub Shabir was placed at Delhi where she had joined a general corporation team. Speaking to Bar and Bench, she added,"Law Foundation taught me the essence of going out and availing the opportunities and doing wonders. I would to tell everyone to join such kinds of fellowships to experience the exposure of different subjects in the field. Don't sit back and wait for opportunities to knock at your doors.".Founder Trustee, Talha Salaria gave the opening remarks for the convocation, which was attended by several dignitaries, alumni, students, families, and well-wishers. Family members were also invited to share their feedback about the programme.
