NALSAR mourns death of final year student

A fifth-year law student at National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR), Hyderabad has passed away.

Shubhranshu Pandey passed away on September 21. The Student Body Council has issued a joint statement along with the NALSAR administration.

In the clarification of the incident, the statement noted that the University health facilities were insufficient in the time of emergency and were unable in assisting the student.

The clarification reads,

"At the hospital, the doctors undertook the necessary medical procedures but unfortunately, were unable to save him. They declared that he was brought dead. The Vice Chancellor and Wardens arrived after he was declared brought dead. He was then rushed to another medical facility by his friends where the emergency doctors restated that he had unfortunately passed away. At the request and after confirming with his parents, no postmorten was conducted and the university assisted in transporting his body back to his hometown in Chattisgarh."

It further reads that the Chief Justice Telangana High Court, who is the ex-officio Chancellor of the University has sent a condolence message on the same.

"The administration will ensure that the current lapses in the primary health centre at NALSAR shall be fixed at the earliest, and that such an incident shall not occur again, due to these institutional lapses."

Upon the Student Bar Council's request, the administration has suspended classes until October 2.
