A Mumbai court, on Monday, granted bail to comedian Bharti Singh and her husband Harsh Limbachiyaa who were arrested on Saturday by the Narcotics Control Bureau for allegedly being in possession of drugs .The bail was granted by Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate at Esplanade, Mumbai subject to furnishing bail bond of Rs 15,000/- each..The couple was arrested on Saturday and produced before the vacation Magistrate at Esplanade yesterday, where the Court remanded them to judicial custody till December 4..Drugs allegedly involved were in small quantities: Mumbai Court remands Bharti Singh, husband to judicial custody till December 4.Additional CMM AH Kashikar who was assigned to hear the matter was on leave, hence the matter was assigned to court in charge, Additional CMM RK Rajebhosale. .Advocate Ayaz Khan appearing for Singh and Limbachiyaa mentioned the matter at 1.50 pm where no lawyer was present on behalf of Narcotics Control Bureau..Khan requested urgent hearing as both the accused, Singh and Limbachiyaa, were television actors and shooting of their television show was halted as they were in judicial custody..When the Addl. CMM took up the matter for hearing immediately, Khan submitted to the Court that NCB had been served yesterday even before the bail application was filed. NCB had stated in the hearing that a reply to the application would be filed today by 11 am. However, he had not received any reply.Khan proceeded to argue on merits of the application. He made the following submissions to the Court to seek bail for the couple.That the contraband alleged to have been recovered was only 85.6 grams.That punishment for such small quantity is upto a year.That it is NCB's case that the purchase was made merely for consumption..Khan referred to two orders passed by another magistrate of the Esplanade Court where bail had been granted in cases where the punishment of the offences was for less than a year..After hearing Khan briefly, the Court granted bail to the couple upon furnishing of bail bond of Rs 15,000/- each.
