[Bhima Koregaon] Father Stan Swamy files fresh application in NIA Court for his bag, clone copy of hard disk

Father Stan Swamy, an accused in the Bhima Koregaon case and presently lodged in a prison hospital, has moved the Special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court seeking return of his bag and also requesting for a clone copy of his hard disk, both allegedly under NIA custody. .Additionally, Swamy has also filed an application seeking directions to restrain his possible transfer from the Taloja jail, where he is currently detained, to another jail without the order of the Court..Advocate Sharif Sheikh, appearing for Swamy, claimed that Swamy had heard from a jail official that he may be transferred to another jail. Apprehending such transfer, he has filed the present application, it was submitted..Advocate Prakash Shetty, appearing for NIA, opposed filing of such applications arguing that Swamy was merely burdening court records with such multiple applications..The Court asked Shetty to respond to the applications by the next date of hearing..The matter was listed before the Special NIA Court on Friday to seek a response from the Taloja jail authorities over the straw sipper issue..[Bhima Koregaon] Straw and sipper, all medical facilities provided to Stan Swamy: Additional Director General of Police.Advocate Sharif, appearing for Swamy, informed the court that since Swamy had received a straw and sipper, he was not pressing for that application today..While the Court asked the NIA to file their reply on Swamy's bail application by Friday, advocate Shetty sought more time to file the same.Therefore, the Special Court granted him time to file the reply by December 10. The NIA was also asked to respond to the other applications by the same date..Swamy, 83, was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) from his house at Ranchi on October 8 for his alleged role in inciting riots at Bhima Koregaon in 2018. He was later remanded to judicial custody and lodged in Taloja jail. Subsequently, he was shifted to the prison hospital due to ill-health.Swamy had earlier moved the NIA court pointing out that his belongings including a straw and sipper were confiscated by NIA. Swamy had claimed that he has difficulty consuming liquids without straw and sipper bottle since he is suffering from Parkinson's disease.His plea to return the same was, however, rejected by the NIA court on November 26 after the NIA told the court that it did not have Swamy's belongings..Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Sunil Ramanand later told media that Swamy has been provided with straw and sipper, a claim which Swamy's lawyer attested to on Friday.Swamy has also filed a bail application for his release contending he is not a flight risk and his arrest is mala fide.
