BMC's denial of monetary benefits to physically disabled employees who were absent amid COVID-19 pandemic illegal: Bombay High Court

The Bombay High Court on Wednesday directed Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to ensure that none of its physically disabled employees, who did not report for duty during the pandemic, are denied pay benefits which they would otherwise be entitled to (National Association of Blind v. Union of India & Ors.).

The Court declared the action of the BMC to withhold monetary benefits to the physically disabled employees with retrospective effect to be illegal.
