
The Bombay High Court on Thursday released the sitting list for its newly constituted circuit bench at Kolhapur. According to the notification, the circuit bench will commence sitting from August 18 and will function with one division bench and two single-judge benches.
Justice M S Karnik, who is currently posted at the principal seat in Mumbai, will preside over the division bench along with Justice Sharmila Deshmukh.
The single benches will be presided over by Justice Shivkumar Dige and Justice S G Chapalgaonkar.
The division bench is expected to hear matters including Public Interest Litigation petitions, civil writ petitions, first appeals, family court appeals, contempt appeals as well as all other civil and criminal matters falling within the purview of a division bench from the districts of Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, Solapur, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg.
The single bench of Justice Dige will hear criminal appeals, criminal revision applications, bail applications and other criminal matters falling within the jurisdiction of a single judge.
Meanwhile, Justice Chapalgaonkar will preside over a single bench hearing civil writ petitions, civil applications, and other civil matters assigned to a single judge.
The bench will be inaugurated by Chief Justice of India BR Gavai on August 17 at 3:30 PM.
