[BREAKING] Aryan Khan Drug case: Sameer Wankhede, NCB move Mumbai Sessions Court against attempt to scuttle probe

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the Zonal Director of NCB, Sameer Wankhede, who is probing the Aryan Khan drug case, have moved Mumbai Sessions Court seeking directions from the Court to prevent attempts to create hurdles and scuttle the ongoing investigation. .The NCB moved the Court with an application praying that there should be no tampering with the evidence or investigation while Wankhede has submitted an affidavit raising grievance against the 'personal allegations' raised against him. .The zonal director, who was present in person, told the Court on Monday that personal allegations are being made against him and his family members. "Why are there allegations against my family members? Is it. Because of my supervisory position? Is it only to divert me and make me fail in court," he asked.Wankehde prayed that nobody should be allowed to influence the witnesses and the investigation. "I am open for any kind of investigation or inquiry. I have 15 years of record. But such allegations only to target my personal life and work is not done," he said..On Sunday, it was widely reported in media that the bodyguard of independent witness KP Gosavi has stated on affidavit that the NCB made him sign a blank panchnama in the cruise ship drugs case, in which Aryan Khan, has been implicated.The bodyguard Prabhakar Sail alleged in a detailed affidavit that he was made to sign blank sheets of paper by the NCB during its investigation in the case. He also expressed a threat to his life, even as his employer Gosavi has gone missing.The affidavit named Wankhede as the officer who instructed the signing of the blank papers.The affidavit also spoke about overhearing a telephonic conversation as per which Rs. 25 crores was demanded to settle the Aryan Khan drug case..In his plea before the Sessions Court, Wankhede undertook to place on record material to show that he was "threatened to be arrested and dispelled from his service, and that there is a slew of attacks against him and his family". "I am under a lurking threat of arrest as it does not suit some vested interest just for conducting an honest and impartial investigation," Wankhede submitted. He also assured the Court that he was ready to face any legal proceedings to establish his innocence. .SPP Advait Sethna told the Court today that releasing such documents (affidavit of Sail) will hamper the accused case including the bail hearing of Aryan Khan which is listed tomorrow for hearing in Bombay High Court. He added that Wankhede was used to facing such backlash in cases involving persons from the higher echelon."He is used to such backlash.. but in this manner? Through an affidavit that is not even filed anywhere!?" Sethna said. .The application stated that the contents of the affidavit of Sail are completely false, mischievous and misleading with a malicious attempt to malign and tarnish the image of an independent agency like NCB who is conducting investigation.NCB also claimed that the affidavit mentions about a lady meeting one of the Panchas and alleged having influenced the witness when the investigation was ongoing, showing the malafide attempt to ensure the same is derailed. Paragraph 13 of the affidavit mentions about one Pooja Dadlani who is the manager of Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan meeting Gosavi and Sail. .Through the application, NCB sought the following prayers:That the affidavit by Sail be taken on record;That no cognizance of such affidavit be taken or the same be used in any manner except the manner as directed by this Court; That the Court be pleased to pass appropriate directions to ensure that an ongoing investigation in the present FIR which is subjudice is not interfered with;That without permission of the Court no pleading in the FIR be filed except in accordance with law "so as to maintain the sanctity of the Court proceedings in an ongoing investigation; That no action or cognizance be taken to such Affidavit without leave of this court and the same be kept in abeyance. .Special Judge VV Patil after hearing the counsel reserved orders which will be pronounced today afternoon.
