Jailed Delhi cabinet minister Satyendar Jain has moved a special court in Delhi seeking directions to restrain media from running any footage from inside his prison cell..Appearing before Special Judge Vikas Dhull for Jain, Senior Advocate Rahul Mehra submitted that despite a hearing on the matter yesterday, another footage was leaked this morning. "They have taken a particular day and particular time and shown some major thing is going on in jail. Please test everything. We are not running away. Today one release, tomorrow another release. Does your conscience not prick," he asked..After considering the application, which was consequently moved during the proceedings, the court directed the Law Officer of Tihar Jail to file a response by Thursday..The senior counsel added that everyday a video was being leaked. "Is this a media trial. All my rights are thrown to the wind.".In response to this, the special judge pointed out that no application was made on behalf of Jain, relating to this issue. Consequently, an application came to be filed seeking to restrain the media and for an enquiry to be conducted on how the leak took place. .Shortly after the application was filed, the court asked jail authorities to file a response by tomorrow..These arguments took place while the court was hearing a plea by Jain accusing the Tihar jail authorities of not providing him basic food items as per his religious belief and also denying him medical check-up..According to his plea, Jain has been surviving only on raw fruits, vegetables and dry-fruits - a diet which was also prescribed by doctors for him to sustain. However, for the last 12 days, the jail authorities have stopped providing these items, it was contended..The plea emphasised the fact that Jain is an under-trial prisoner and such cannot be made to starve or relinquish his religious beliefs and be denied basic medical condition."The weight was 103 and now it is 75. Let an independent person go to jail and see," Mehra said today while referring to Jain's weight loss as a result of non-supply of food items.
