The Calcutta High Court recently disposed of a writ petition directing the District Magistrate, Birbhum, to consider a representation alleging that funds under the Pradhan Mantri Awass Yojana (PMAY) scheme were not disbursed to persons included in the list of beneficiaries under the scheme.
In this regard, the order passed by Justice Shampa Sarkar states,

The Court further directed the Authorities to undertake immediate steps if found that the petitioners are eligible for the funds.
The Court had been informed that the petitioners had filed a representation dated November 5, 2019, before the Authorities, including the District Magistrate, Birbhum ventilating their grievances. A plea was moved before the High Court on a claim that the representation had not been considered till date.
This petitioners had also prayed that they be allowed to complete the construction of their houses after receiving the eligible funds under the scheme.
It was further contended that certain ineligible persons who had not been included in the list of beneficiaries had been disbursed funds under the scheme.
Taking this into account, the Court has now also directed the authorities to take necessary measures if found that ineligible persons have been disbursed money under the Pradhan Mantri Awass Yojana.
