Centre can't grant retrospective Environmental Clearance through OM route, valid notification a must: Supreme Court

The Court held that ex post facto environmental clearances may be granted in limited, exceptional circumstances, but struck down a 2021 OM on the ground that it impermissibly supplanted the EIA Notification, 2006.
