Centre reappoints K Arvind Kamath, B Narsimha Sharma as ASGs in Karnataka, Telangana High Courts

The Central government has reappointed Senior Advocates K Arvind Kamath and B Narsimha Sharma as Additional Solicitors General (ASGs) to represent it before the High Courts of Karnataka and Telangana, respectively.

The reappointments were notified on September 23. They have been re-appointed for a three-year period with effect from October 17, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Arvind Kamath obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree from JSS Law College, Mysuru, in 1992. He subsequently pursued a Master of Laws (LLM) from the National Law School of India University, Bengaluru (NLSIU). He enrolled as an advocate in 1993, and initially practised before the City Civil Court, Bengaluru. From 1995-96 onwards, he has primarily practised before the Karnataka High Court.

In 2000, Kamath was awarded the British Chevening Scholarship by the British Council, under which he underwent training in English and European Union commercial and corporate laws. Kamath has also been associated with legal education. He taught for around 12 years and served as guest faculty at MS Ramaiah Law College.

In 2003, he was appointed Assistant Editor of the Indian Law Reports by the Karnataka High Court. In November 2018, Kamath was designated as a Senior Advocate by the Karnataka High Court.

On October 17, 2023, the government of India appointed Kamath as an ASG to represent the Central government before the High Court of Karnataka.

By the same notification, the Centre also appointed B Narsimha Sharma as an ASG to represent it before the Telangana High Court. Sharma was designated a Senior Advocate towards the end of 2022.
