Following reports that singer Kanika Kapoor, who tested positive for COVID-19, hosted parties after her return from London, a criminal complaint has been filed in a Bihar Court. In the plaint, she is accused of committing a negligent act which is likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life and of disobeying order by public authorities.
Filed by Sudhir Kumar Ojha before an Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Muzaffarpur District, the complaint has sought criminal action against Kanika Kapoor under Sections 188, 269, 120B of the Indian Penal Code.
The Complainant has alleged that being a VIP, Kanika Kapoor was exempted from the screening process at the airport.

Thereafter, Kanika Kapoor hosted three parties in Lucknow from March 13-15 and the same was attended by three hundred people, including prominent politicians and sitting members of parliament, it is stated.
The Complainant has added that Kapoor hid the fact that she was infected with the coronavirus and thus spread the virus further.
The matter will reportedly come up for hearing on March 31.
The Uttar Pradesh Police has also booked Kapoor for negligence and committing acts that are likely to spread a disease.
