All Benches of the Karnataka High Court as well as district courts in the state shall remain closed till April 30 in view of the extended Coronavirus lockdown declared in Karnataka..The notification issued through Registrar General Rajendra Badmikar states, ."... the period of closure of the High Court of Karnataka, Bengaluru including Benches at Dharwad and Kalaburgi is extended till 30.04.2020 for the purpose of Section 4 of the Limitation Act, 1963."Karnataka High Court closure notification.The High Court will sit for hearing on April 16, 21, 24 and 28. Further, it was added that on these days, only a skeletal staff of the branches dealing with filing, board, pending cases, scrutiny, copying, HCA-II and office of Registry are directed to attend the office work..The personal staff working with the chambers and Court Halls of the judges holding sitting for the above days have also been directed to attend court, the notification reads. It was further clarified that the rest of the staff need not enter the Court premises till April 30, unless specifically called by the Registrar. .As per a separate notification, it has been informed that all the district and trial courts, family courts, labour courts and industrial tribunals in the state shall remain closed from April 15 to April 30..The notification has further intimated that the cases which are already listed up to April 30, 2020 shall be adjourned automatically to subsequent dates, and those dates shall be uploaded on the Court website..In view of the Supreme Court order dated March 23, it was stated that all proceedings before the lower courts shall stand extended with effect from March 15 till further order/s to be passed by the Supreme Court in the said proceedings..On March 23, the Supreme Court had directed the suspension of the limitation period running under all general and special laws, with effect from March 15, in view of the difficulties faced by litigants in approaching the courts amidst the Coronavirus pandemic.[Read notifications here]
