The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has managed to collect over ₹4 crore in order to extend assistance to lawyers impacted by the economic slowdown due to COVID-19 or those who contracted the virus. .Three retired Supreme Court judges also joined the cause. Justice AK Sikri has donated Rs. 3 lakh and Justice Deepak Verma has donated Rs. 2 lakh. Former Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra contributed Rs. 3 lakh..SCBA President Vikas Singh stated that out of the money collected, Rs 3.11 crore was disbursed to 778 lawyers as financial assistance..Further, Rs 21.75 lakh was disbursed to 60 lawyers for treatment of COVID-19, and Rs. 43 lakh to families of those lawyers who died of COVID-19..The SCBA Welfare Fund was being used recently to meet the needs of its members who suffered due to the pandemic.
