A Delhi court on Friday ordered the Delhi Police to investigate whether or not Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot actually said that union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat is an accused in the Sanjeevani scam..Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Harjeet Singh Jaspal of Rouse Avenue Court also ordered police to investigate whether Gehlot said that allegations against Shekhawat have been proved. "Keeping in mind the sensitivity of the matter, it is directed that the Joint Commissioner concerned shall monitor the investigation... The worthy Joint Commissioner of Police concerned shall investigate the matter either himself or through an officer not below the rank of an Inspector. The investigation report be filed by the next date of hearing," the court ordered. .Shekhawat has filed a criminal defamation suit against Gehlot after he allegedly made a statement regarding the former's alleged involvement in the Sanjeevani scam. The court had kept the matter for today to pronounce its order on the issue of summons. However, in his order, the judge noted that the investigation into the facts is necessary before summons is issued since Gehlot resides outside the local jurisdiction of the court..It was alleged that Gehlot made some defamatory allegations against Shekhawat in February in relation to the alleged Sanjeevani Credit Cooperative Society scam.According to reports, Gehlot had met some people who lost their investment in Sanjeevani. These aggrieved people had alleged that Shekhawat was involved in the scam. After meeting the aggrieved, Gehlot made some statements to the media wherein he allegedly named Shekhawat and asked how such people become ministers in the Modi government. .The very next day, Shekhawat held a press-conference where he refuted the allegations. .Sanjeevani Credit Cooperative Society had opened several branches in Rajasthan, Gujarat and other States. It is reported that nearly two lakh investors invested over ₹950 crore in the society but never received it back.
