[Breaking] Document leak in Anil Deshmukh probe: Delhi Court gives CBI two day custody over Lawyer Anand Daga, SI Abhishek Tiwari

A Delhi Court on Thursday granted the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) two-day custody over Mumbai lawyer Anand Daga and sub-inspector Abhishek Tiwari. .Daga and Tiwari were arrested last night by the CBI on allegations that they were involved in leaking documents connected to the ongoing probe against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. .The CBI has alleged that this was done in return for illegal gratification. .Both men were produced before Special CBI Judge Vimal Kumar Yadav this evening, when the CBI sought seven days' custody. .Document leak in Anil Deshmukh probe: Delhi Court asks press, those unrelated to case to leave remand hearing.After hearing arguments in the matter, however, the Court has finally given the Central probe agency two days' custody over both the accused. .Appearing for Daga before the CBI Court, Advocate Tanveer Ahmed Mir today raised concern that he is yet to receive a copy of the FIR. Mir has also sought a copy of the arrest memo.Relying on the Supreme Court's ruling in the Youth Bar Association case, Mir contended,"... an accused is entitled to get a copy of FIR...They have lodged the FIR on August 31. So within 24 hours, they have to provide...Supreme Court has said all FIRs have to be put in public platform, except in sensitive matters such as POCSO, terror etc......I wouldn't know the allegations unless I have the copy...I believe they put the FIR on the website. If they haven't, then they are in clear violation of the Supreme Court order. Huzoor ye ek copy mujhe de dein (please ask them to give me a copy)."Counsel appearing for the CBI said that a copy would be provided shortly. He also submitted that there is a search warrant, which was a confidential document.Legal aid counsel, Santosh Singh Bharthwal appeared for SI Tiwari.In relation to the police officer, the CBI counsel has alleged,"Abhishek Tiwari (was in a) conspiracy with accused persons, case-related documents (were) leaked and (he) got illegal gratification in return. It has been happening at regular intervals.".According to sources, CBI officials suspected that a lower rank officer was given illegal gratification in exchange for the internal document of CBI.The document which CBI claimed was leaked on Saturday was a report of the preliminary enquiry supposedly giving a clean chit to Deshmukh and recommending closure of investigation against him.On Wednesday, CBI questioned Deshmukh's son in law Gaurav Chaturvedi and Daga before registering an FIR against them.They let Chaturvedi go as they did not yet find his involvement in the case. .As per sources, sub-inspector Abhishek Tiwari was in touch with Daga for the document.
