Father of Sameer Wankhede files defamation suit before Bombay High Court against NCP leader Nawab Malik

Father of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede has filed a defamation suit before the Bombay High Court against Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Nawab Malik. .Dhyandev Kachruji Wankhede sought damages to the tune of ₹1.25 crore for allegedly making defamatory comments against his son and family through press conferences and via social media.The plea stated that the statements by Malik that Wankehede is a Muslim amounted to questioning the religious beliefs of the family by disputing that they are not Hindus. It added that Malik's statements did irreparable loss, damage, harm, prejudice to the name, character, reputation and societal image of Wankhede and his family..The suit filed through Advocates Divakar Rai and Saurabh Tamhankar sought the following prayers:Order declaring that statements made by Malik are "tortious and defamatory in nature";Order of permanent injunction restraining Malik from publishing or making statements in any kind of media, including his social media accounts;Directions to Malik to delete any statements, press releases, tweets released by Malik;Directions to pay damages to the tune of ₹1.25 crore for allegedly making defamatory comments against his son and his family in press conferences and on his social media account. .Advocate Arshad Shaikh appearing for Dhyandev Kachruji Wankhede informed the vacation bench of Justice SJ Kathawalla that Malik has been calling Wankhede's family a fraud.Justice Kathawalla granted leave to the lawyers to file the suit and posted the matter for hearing on November 8, 2021. The matter is now listed for hearing before Justice Madhav Jamdar..This is the second defamation suit filed against the NCP leader.
