Female foeticide: Plea before Supreme Court against large scale acquittals under PNDT Act, Rules

The plea said that as per data available on official websites, the authorities, particularly in Gujarat, Rajasthan and Punjab have not preferred even a single appeal against acquittals.

A petition has been filed before the Supreme Court stating that there is large scale violation of Pre-natal Diagnostic Techniques (Prohibition of Sex Selection) Act, 1994 and Pre-natal Diagnostic Techniques (Prohibition of Sex Selection) Rules, 1996 which prohibit determination of sex of a foetus foetus.
