[BREAKING] CBI, IB do not help judiciary at all; Judges are threatened in cases of high profile people; CBI has done nothing: Supreme Court

The Supreme Court on Friday berated the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Intelligence Bureau (IB) in strong words stating that they do not help the judiciary at all even when complaints are lodged by judges alleging threats faced by them..The Court said that judges are many times mentally harassed and threatened in cases involving gangsters or high profile people but complaints to the CBI or police never yield any results.The attitude of the CBI remains the same and the judiciary receives no help at all, the Court remarked."There are several cases in the country which involves gangsters and where high profile people are accused. So judges are threatened mentally also by sending messages on whatsapp, SMS . Complaints were made but CBI has done nothing. No change in attitude of CBI, sorry to observe (this)," Chief Justice of India NV Ramana said. The CJI also said that there is a new trend in the country where judges are maligned when an adverse order is passed."If judges file a complaint to police or CBI they do not respond. Its time some strong measures are put in place," AG said..The observations were made by the Court while hearing a suo motu case registered by the apex court in the wake of death of Dhanbad Additional District and Sessions judge Uttam Anand after a vehicle rammed into him while he was out on his morning walk killing him..The top court had earlier directed the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police of Jharkhand to submit a status report on investigation into death of judge Anand within a week.While it was initially believed that the death of judge Anand was an accident, CCTV footage of the incident which surfaced, suggested that the vehicle was deliberately rammed into the judge as he was walking along the edge of the road..The Court on Friday issued notice to all States and sought a status report from them.
