Actor Kangana Ranaut has filed a rejoinder before the Bombay High Court refuting the Greater Mumbai Municipal Corporation's averments that the renovations made to her bungalow were made illegally..Pertinently, she has stated that her neighbour, designer Manish Malhotra, was issued a similar notice in respect of his property but that he was given a seven-day period to respond. .Using this instance, she re-asserts that the Corporation's actions were a counterblast to her statements against the State government and her remarks on the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput..She has categorically denied the charges levelled against her by the Corporation, stating that the charges are an attempt to "cover up their ex facie illegal acts.".Stating that most of the Corporation's claims were repetitive in nature, the actor has stated that "the deponent (the Corporation) has at every stage tried to improve the case by making incorrect statements to justify the illegal acts.".The Corporation has submitted that it had found six workers on the premises doing unauthorised renovation works. I put the Respondents to the strict proof thereof. I deny that the sanctioned plans establish that illegal work was carried out. I say that had the Respondents given me a fair opportunity as required in law, I would have been able to respond to their allegations after taking appropriate advise from experts."Kangana Ranaut.Urging that the Corporation be put to "the strictest proof" on its statements alleging that her work on the bungalow was unauthorised, the actor has argued that its actions were driven by malice..She has also claimed that the Corporation has been trying to cover up the discrepancies in the documents produced, particularly with regard to the time at which the FIR was filed. She had earlier also pointed out in her amended writ petition that the FIR specified the date erroneously as September 7, 2020. .Ranaut has been embroiled in a heated legal battle with the Corporation, which had attempted to demolish a portion of her property on the premise that she had made illegal alterations to it. .The actor initially moved the Bombay High Court seeking a halt to the demolition, which had already begun before the Court could pass its order. After she was granted leave to amend her petition, she has provided additional information on her version of the events that led up to the demolition. She has also claimed damages to the tune of Rs 2 crores from the Corporation for demolishing 40% of her property.
