Environment Protection Act controversy: Karnataka High Court asks NHAI to donate Rs 2.5 lakh each to two organizations

The two organizations are Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education and Research and the Wildlife Institute of India.

The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday asked the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to donate Rs 2.5 lakh each to two environmental organisations in the wake of its controversial affidavit filed in a matter.

Last week, the Court had urged the NHAI to donate a "substantial" amount of money to any environmental organization so as to make amends for suggesting in its statement of objections that the Environment Protection Act was enacted by Parliament at the instance of foreign powers.
