Lawyer moves Madras High Court seeking action against Mani Ratnam for distortion of history in movie Ponniyin Selvan

The petitioner alleged that Ratnam wilfully distorted the history of the Chola Dynasty for commercial purposes and used the names of the historical figures in his movie to "intentionally defame the history".

A lawyer from Chennai has approached the Madras High Court seeking "appropriate action" against film director Mani Ratnam for allegedly portraying the "wrong history" of the Chola empire in his film 'Ponniyin Selvan: I'.
