Rename Madurai Airport after local deities like Goddess Meenakshi: Madras High Court dismisses PIL
The plea was dismissed in view of the Central government's submission that there was no proposal at present to rename the Madurai airport after any personality.
The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court recently declined to entertain a public interest litigation (PIL) petition that sought for the Madurai Airport to be renamed after local deities like Lord Devindran or Goddess Meenakshi. (C Selvakumar v. Government of India)
