Madras High Court stays office order mandating that suo motu "pan-India" matters are to be heard only by NGT Principal Bench

"The Chairperson of the NGT does not appear to have been conferred any more authority when dealing with any matter on the judicial side than any other judicial member," the Court observed while passing the order.

The Madras High Court on Tuesday stayed an office order issued by the Registrar General of the Principal Bench of the National Green Tribunal (NGT), which had stated that suo motu matters having pan-India or inter-state implications will henceforth be listed before the Principal Bench of at least three members (Meenava Thanthai KR Selvaraj Kumar v. National Green Tribunal Principal Bench and anr).
