Man in jail for 17 years ordered to be released by Supreme Court after JJB finds he was juvenile at the time of offence

Instead of sending the applicant to a special home for 3 years as per the Juvenile Justice Act 2000, the Court released the accused given the time he already spent behind bars.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered immediate release of a person who was incarcerated in jail for more than 17 years after the Juvenile Justice Board confirmed that he was a minor at the time of the offence
