[Sushant Singh Rajput case] Narcotics Control Bureau files 61,000+ page chargesheet before Special NDPS Court

The Mumbai Zonal Unit of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has filed its first chargesheet in the drug case being probed in connection with the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. .The chargesheet has been filed in two parts - about 11,700 pages have been filed through physical copy and over 50,000 pages have been filed through digital format in the form of CDs. .The chargesheet names 33 accused including Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik Chakraborty, Agisilaos Demetriades (brother of Arjun Rampal's partner Gabriella Demetriades) and former Dharma Productions employee, Kshitij Prasad.It also includes a list of over 200 witnesses. 8 of the 33 accused are still in judicial custody..The accused have been arraigned for offences punishable under Sections 8(c), 20(b)(ii), 22, 27A, 28, 29 and 30 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act..NCB has stated that during the course of investigation, it made several seizures of various narcotics drugs and psychotropic substances, electronic gadgets, Indian as well as foreign currencies from the accused..It claims to have analysed the gadgets, mobile phones and relevant incriminating evidence regarding the sale, purchase, procurement, consumption and possession of narcotics drugs. The drugs seized were sent for chemical examination. .They have claimed that the chargesheet includes investigation based on voluntary disclosure statements, technical evidence which includes call details, WhatsApp chats, details of bank accounts/financial transactions, and other documentary evidence.Due to ecological reasons, a large portion of the annexes have been submitted in electronic form, NCB state in their press release..NCB has purportedly seized substantial quantities of narcotic drugs like Charas, Ganja, LSD and Ecstasy, and psychotropic substances like Alprazolam and Clonazepam..NCB has sought leave from the Court to issue summons to the accused and witnesses named in the chargesheet.
