The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Tuesday directed the State of Uttar Pradesh to pay ₹120 crores as environmental compensation for improper solid waste management and discharge of sewage into rivers in Gorakhpur District [Meera Shukla v Municipal Corporation, Gorakhpur].
