Offences under laws other than IPC punishable with imprisonment of 3 years or more are cognizable, non-bailable: Bombay High Court

The Court was considering the question so as to decide the maintainability of the anticipatory bail application of the person accused of infringement of intellectual property laws under offences punishable for 3 years.

The Bombay High Court has held that offences under laws other than Indian Penal Code (IPC) which are punishable with imprisonment of 3 years or more are cognizable and non-bailable (Piyush Ranipa v. State of Maharashtra).
