PIL seeks every petition to be filed with copy of Bar Council ID: Calcutta High Court calls for suggestions

This plea was stated to have been filed with an aim to avoid repetition of a recent incident where a petition was found to have been filed by a non-existing advocate.

The Calcutta High Court on Monday sought the Bar Council of West Bengal's suggestions in a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) petition seeking a direction for every petition filed before the Court to be accompanied by a self-attested copy of the Bar Council Identity Card (ID) or any other specified ID [Vijay Kumar Singhal v The High Court at Calcutta].
